RPG Behind The Scenes

home cinema acousticsRPG: Behind the Scenes

The Behind The Scenes™ system bridges the gap between aesthetics and acoustical performance, offering excellent performance at a competitive price point in a versatile, scalable, supply and install system for custom installers and home owners to create the complete Home Cinema Acoustic package.

Carrying the performance that RPG demands of any of its products, the Behind The Scenes™ system has been developed to give designers the options and confidence they need on the job site and deserve in their finished products.

Available in literally 100’s of fabric colors and configurations, this acoustic panel system offers high performance acoustics that meet the requirements of even the most intricate designs that we see in home cinema today. This system is designed to helpyou create your own Rooms Without Boundaries™.

System Description
RPG’s scientifically designed, tested and proven BAD™ technology is the backbone of the new Three-Panel Behind The Scenes™ Acoustic System.  Each panel plays a different role in tuning the acoustics of a performance environment as well as offers a secondary role to further enhance the system. All these panels can be used with any of the RPG range to further tailor the acoustics of the space.

The CONTROL panel offers bass management while simultaneously promoting useful, naturally occurring reflections. The AMBIENCE panel (BAD™) offers broadband mid and high frequency diffusion while simultaneously offering improved lower midrange absorption. The IMAGING panel offers broadband mid and high frequency absorption, critical for accurate translation of width and depth of the sound stage, while simultaneously offering improved lower midrange absorption. These are the tools necessary to create truly balanced sonic environments. Control the bass and mid range. Add ambience. Maintain imaging. Each Behind The Scenes™ system can be designed to integrate into virtually any design. Comprised of stock parts that are 100% customizable during installation, the system is easy to install and fast to produce.

Performance
The goal of the Behind The Scenes™ system is to provide exceptional acoustics for the everyday theater project. Many rooms only have 1” or 2” of depth available for engineering the room’s acoustical system. Because there were no performance solutions on the market that could address a theater that has only 1, 2 or even 3 inches of available depth on the wall for an acoustical system, the Behind The Scenes™ was developed to do that job.  It is with great pleasure that RPG is able to offer an engineered, balanced design for optimum integration between the audio system and the room construction. It is with great anticipation that we look forward to fulfilling the needs of the everyday theater project with a system that will work with virtually any limitation imposed by the architecture or economics of the project.

Components

bts_controlCONTROL
- offers bass management through two absorption mechanisms, while simultaneously promoting useful, naturally occurring reflections. The optimized and patented RPG perforated template facing on the proprietary absorptive core also prevents excessive absorption outside the design bandwidth of the unit.

bts_ambienceAMBIENCE
- offers broadband mid and high frequency sound diffusion while simultaneously offering improved lower midrange absorption. The optimized and patented RPG perforated template facing on the proprietary absorptive core also prevents excessive absorption outside the design bandwidth of the unit.

btw_imagingIMAGING
- offers broadband mid and high frequency absorption, critical for accurate translation of width and depth of the sound stage, while simultaneously offering improved lower midrange absorption. The optimized and patented RPG perforated template sandwiched between proprietary absorptive cores provides the broadest overall bandwidth absorption available for those few areas where dedicated absorption is required.

Stretch fabric wall trackRPG SOUNDTRAC™ - offers all wall and ceiling termination points with a slight bevel to create a professional upholstered finish.

BLOCKING
– RPG provides all blocking necessary for the installation of the SoundTrac™ system. RPG will identify and define all other blocking (for molding, columns, electrical, A/V, etc.) that will be required in advance by others for complete integration of the Behind The Scenes system with the interior design.

FABRIC – RPG can provide any fabric upon approval by RPG for acoustical performance. Click here for Standard or recommended upgrade fabric charts or our new Cinema Line Suede fabrics. We can also use your own fabric, subject to approval by us.

General Panel Layout

The (3) panel types of the Behind The Scenes system will always follow the generalized acoustical pattern as shown and described below during installation. All panels are 600x600m x selected System depth (System I = 28mm, System II = 54mm, System III = 78mm, System IV - 104mm). The blocking and track components are not shown below, as these are dependent on too many factors to generalize. Also, architectural and A/V elements will always require special considerations in determining the placement of the acoustical system. For this reason, it is recommended that you speak with an RPG representative before installation to ensure proper placement.

The CONTROL panel should be located at the upper and lower most 2’ of all wall areas as well as the outer most 2’ of available ceiling area.

The IMAGING panel should be located at only the first reflection areas of the front side wall and ceiling areas. This panel should be used sparingly, as over application can cause problems in tuning the room.

The AMBIENCE panel should be installed last, and should fill in all the areas left between the CONTROL and IMAGING panels without interfering with other existing components of the system and design.

Installation
An RPG SoundTrac™ installation specialist is prepared to install your theater within the next 5-7 weeks.

We use acoustic software to determine the best products for your system, and can also work to a budget, offering 3 levels of budget scale.
